DC uses the information we collect so that we may provide you with better products and service, respond to your requests, to contact you directly and to enhance your browsing experience. Please read on for more details about our privacy policy.
It is DC's polity not to disclose any personal information collected from visitors to our web site to any third party except in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) DC's rights or property, other users of DC's website, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities. In addition, DC may disclose user information when we believe in good faith that the law requires such disclosure.
INFORMATION COLLECTED AND USED:
When you enter a contest or other promotional feature, we may ask for your name, address, and e-mail address so we can administer the contest and notify winners. In addition, we may ask that you fill out a survey to assist us in getting to know our customers so that we may better serve you. We may also use this information to contact you about our products, services, promotions and other matters which might be of interest to you.
We monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us develop the design and layout of the site.
If you arrived at our website via a link from another page, we may received aggregate or otherwise anonymous statistical information about your visit to our site. We treat this information with the same care as we treat other information that you entrust to us, and it's fully protected by our privacy policy.
COOKIES:
Cookies are pieces of information that a web site transfers to an individual's hard drive for record-keeping purposes. The use of cookies is an industry standard-- you'll find them at most major web sites. The only purpose they serve is to enhance your browsing experience. Our cookies do not contain or collect any personally identifying information. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually use most of the features on our website, including placing items in your shopping cart and purchasing them. (However, note that some parts of the DC website will not function properly or may be considerably slower if you refuse cookies. For example, without cookies, you may have difficultly completing the shopping transactions or entering contests.)
By showing how and when visitors use a site, cookies help us see which areas are more frequently visited. Many improvements and updates to the site are based on such data as total number of visitors and pages viewed. This information is most easily tracked with cookies. We use the information from cookies to provide better tailored to our users' needs.
NONDISCLOSURE:
The information you provide is used only internally at DC or as otherwise described in this policy, and we do not disclose your personal information to third parties, except as stated above.
DC'S CONTEST POLICY AND POLICY FOR KIDS (INDIVIDUALS UNDER 13 YEARS OF AGE.)
DC conducts promotions on its web site where a visitor may win a pair of DC's shoes. These promotions are open to visitors aged 13 and younger. DC asks all visitors 13, including visitors aged 13 and younger, to fill out a survey so that DC can learn more about it's customers and the effectiveness of it's advertising. The survey does not request any personally identifying information. Except for a visitor's email address, DC does not collect any other information on it's web site from kids under 13 years of age. Contest winners are randomly selected. Upon submission of a contest entry form, contest entrants are immediately notified on the web site whether they have won. Contest winners must then print out a form that appears on the web site that the winner (and, if the winner is under 13 years of age, his or her parent or guardian) must fill out and send to the address provided on the form. Upon receipt of the fully filled out form DC will send the winner a pair of shoes in a size and style selected by the winner.
USE OF IP ADDRESSES:
An IP address is a number that's automatically assigned to your computer whenever you're surfing the web. Web servers-- the big computers that "serve up" web pages-- automatically identify your computer by its IP address.
DC collects IP addresses for the purposes of system administration and to audit the use of our site. When visitors request pages from our site, our servers log the visitor's IP addressees. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, which means that a user's session will be logged, but the user remains anonymous to us. We can and will use IP address to identify a user when we feel it is necessary to enforce compliance with our terms of service or to protect our service, site, customers, or others.
LINKS TO OTHER SITES:
Users should be aware that when they are on the DC website, they could be directed to other sites that are beyond DC's control. There are links to other sites from DC pages that take you outside our service. These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data, or solicit personal information. DC has no responsibility or liability for these independent policies or actions, and is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such sites. These linked web sites are only for your convenience and you therefore access them at your own risk. DC's privacy policy does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation of the internet, and therefore beyond DC's control.
