Comments about DC 1011700 Mens Ranger Snowboard Jacket:

There are a few things that need to be said about this jacket that just aren't outlined in the description. In fact, there are a number of things.
Let me first say that I have owned 3 DC jackets in the past 8 years and they have always fit better than any other jackets on the market. Now it may sound like I'm a DC fiend but I've owned jackets from many of the major brands. Burton, Analog, Planet Earth, Volcom, Bonfire, 686,Quicksilver etc. So I feel I'm qualified to share my unbiased opinion on the Ranger.

This jacket is straight up dope. WAY better than I thought it was going to be. I don't usually buy jackets online because I'm quite tall and thus need to be sure the jacket is going to be long enough before I buy it. With DC though, I know their XL's will fit perfectly, every time. It's amazing. The outer shell material of the jacket is probably not what you're expecting. It's not that crunchy, noisy, garbage that you expect from many companies. It's a twill like material that is very soft, very quiet, and has a bit of stretch to it. The Ranger also features a pocket at the back of the neck that, when opened, reveals a sweet black balaclava made of a nice thin black material which is perfect for fitting under helmets, goggles, touques and the like. It's a really nice touch that you might think you'll never use but you'll be glad it's there when the time is right. The Ranger also features wrist gaiters with thumb holes. Something that should be standard in all snowboard jackets but isn't for some reason. The gaiter material could be of better quality but it's seriously one of the only gripes I have with this jacket. The leather detailing on the side pockets is a very classy touch and matches the very low-pro, subtle logos. I don't like my jacket to have gigantic branding all over it. The Ranger might not be appealing to somebody looking for a lot of steeze but if that's your game, this is clearly not the jacket for you. What else is there that needs mentioning? Oh the magnetic zipper flap on the front is amazing. I've never had a jacket that used this closure method and now, I don't know how I've done without it. The whole thing just flips closed on it's own with no effort and you don't have to unsnap anything before unzipping. This obviously means that accessing the inside of the jacket is effortless even while wearing gloves or mitts. This leads me to another small complaint. No closable inside pocket. It's not a huge deal, but it wouldn't suck to have one. I've grown accustom to having an iside left pocket, like most people have. There is, however, a gigantic mesh pocket on the lower right side. You could probably fit half a large pizza in there or like 4 beers.

As for size, DC has it dialed. Their jackets always fit the same unless they state otherwise. I'm a tall dude. 6'4" and just under 200lbs and the XL fits perfectly. It couldn't fit any better. There is plenty of length in the sleeves for my long arms which is key. it's also a nice slimmer, fitted shape. Not so slim that it's restricting though. I'd say an XL would fit somebody up to 6'5", without issue. If you are around 6' - 6'2 the XL will probably be a bit big. But if you like your jacket a little long, who am I to advise you otherwise?

To wrap things up, The DC Ranger is an awesome, feature rich jacket which is very underrated and understated. If you think you might be into this jacket, don't worry, you will be. It's of great quality and is as comfortable as snowboard jackets come. Great job! I'm super stocked on the Ranger. I went with the green one, BTW.
